Unexpected Fun!
We decided that a trip to our favourite pie shop Diggers Pies was in order and it seemed appropriate with Eli in his flanny and Daddy in his work shirt! As we drove in Freya noticed that there was a lot of action happening in the park. There was a jumping castle, pony rides, baby animals and face painting. So we had our pies and then headed over to the park to join in on the fun. Not a bad way to spend a Saturday arvo!

A Big Puddle
Freya was desperate to get a beanie. A beanie with a pom pom. We were going to lunch and I wanted to do some grocery shopping afterwards so we parked at one end of the shops, walked to the other end, bought the beanie and then walked over to the restaurant.
A lovely lunch was had with friends. I thought I wouldn't need the spare shirt I packed for Eli after we made it out of the restaurant unscathed. How wrong was I! It turns out that I should have packed two. But sometimes, even when you just KNOW that it's not going to end well it's still hard to resist letting them have a bit of fun. Especially after the awful weather we have had this week.
So this is how I came to have one child in a nappy only, and my other child in long sleeves and a beanie! And I had to traipse from one end of the shopping centre to the other to get to the car with them like this. Groceries were not bought. It's days like this that I thank my lucky stars that I still carry my Ergo around with me so Eli was not quite so obvious. We must have looked such a sight!
And it all makes me laugh and laugh!

Powerkidz
We went and checked out the 2012 Powerkidz Festival at the Brisbane Powerhouse with some friends today.
Freya & Eli did some colouring in, played dress up's and participated in a huge group project to build a tunnel maze out of boxes. Well, we kind of participated in the maze... We weren't so good at the actual building part but Eli thought it was fantastic fun once the box tunnels started to go together and he actually got to get into them!
And when we had had a go at all of the provided activities the kids found some structures to climb and a ramp to run down!

Girly Girl!
She's not usually a girly girl kind of girl! But today Freya went to a tea party and the makeup came out. The girls were so incredibly sweet together and the end result for many of them was colourful to say the least! Freya came home and revisited the toy sale catalogue to circle herself some makeup sets. I'm now fearing for my own makeup!

Backyard Adventures
I love that we have a big back yard for the kids to roam. It's been cold and miserable weather but today we headed down for a play just before it started to rain.
Eli absolutely adores the chooks... Hazel, Hillary, Hetty and Holly. He loves to feed them so the chooks are always happy to see him.
We recently gave Freya an iPod and it's hard to get it off her at the moment. She loves to wind herself up as much as she can on the swing and then let go and SPIN! I love the crazy post spinning hair!

He's all class!
Eli. He's all class. I walk down the hall to find Eli sitting there like this watching a spot of television. I keep my camera on the top of the cabinet in the bottom left of screen so I just picked it up and snapped!

An Outing with Abby
Today cousin Abby came to visit ... just in time for a trip to playgroup! Eli is full of confidence at playgroup and loves to be involved in everything. And climb! Eli can always find something to climb.
Important Life Lessons
Yes you know you've taught your child an important life lesson when they make you a cappuccino for the first time! Freya was so proud of herself and after making me a cappuccino made herself a babyccino. Then she blew on it:
Freya: "Oh Mummy just one blow and I have chocolate everywhere!"
Freya: "I know, I'll have to lick my way out of this problem!"
She makes me laugh so much sometimes. Later in the day:
Freya: "Mummy I love you!"
Me: "I love you too Freya."
Freya: "I love you even though you dressed me in pink."
Lucky that :-)

Kindy Picnic
It was the last day of term for kindy today and so we had a picnic there. Freya loves any opportunity to have us spend time with her at kindy and Eli is always so excited to have a play there. I'm so very glad that Freya has this year there, it's such a beautiful and caring environment.

Catching Bubbles
Freya will now often blow bubbles for Eli. Today she showed me a new trick... catching them! She was pretty proud of that new trick.

A Big Day Out
What a big day we had today! We all went into Newfarm Park so that Daddy and I could go to the World Press photo exhibition at the Powerhouse while Freya and Eli played at the park with Uncle Kenny. When we all joined back up again we decided it would be a fantastic idea to hop on the city cats and head over to Southbank for some lunch and an icecream. After a big day it seemed easier to head out to dinner rather than cook and Freya was very, very impressed by her drink! Lucky... because they were rather busy at the 'Monster' restaurant tonight and it kept her amused for the long wait!

Sweet Strawberries
We decided today that we wanted to plant some strawberries and so headed off on a little mission to the nursery at Samford. After stopping off for a play in the playground and buttermilk pancakes we got down to the very serious business of picking out strawberry seedlings. Freya talked to them. She earnestly asked which of them would have the sweetest strawberries. But alas she declared that they were not talking back! So we asked the very helpful owner of the nursery instead. When we got home to plant them it was clear that Eli's interest lay squarely with helping to fill the soil whilst Freya could not wait until we were finished so that she could water them in. I love how well they worked together. Eli's little hand on Freya's shoulder makes me melt a little!
