We went to Toby's 'Arty Party' today and what an amazing party it was! Mel and John had organised lots of different activity stations for the children including a trough of slimy goo, bead bracelet making, drawing, dressups and more. Cousin Keily was at the party too and the kids had an absolute blast! Freya discovered the joy of cheezel fingers (which I used to love doing as a kid) and Eli found joy in a marshmallow with a freckle on a stick! Freya and Eli were both very impressed with Toby's green dragon cake.

Crazy hair
Hair washing is not something that my children enjoy very much... but 'crazy hair' nearly makes up for it in Freya's eyes!

Ekka disappointment
This was the day that Freya had been excitedly waiting for - EKKA day! She had been diligently saving every coin she collected in her piggybank for months. First thing on the agenda was a trip to the bank to turn her coins into notes. Freya was very proud of her savings efforts and with her money counted, exchanged and then tucked safely into her little purse we were ready to hop on the train. But we didn't get far.
In the middle of a very crowded train Elijah vomited all over himself, all over me and all over the train seat - much to the visible horror of some of our fellow passengers. At the very next stop we disembarked and had to wait for a returning train.
Poor Freya was devastated, her look of disappointment broke my heart. Quietly she said, "but I've been saving for the Ekka all year." We assured Freya that we would make sure she got to the Ekka but I remember just how long it felt to wait for anticipated events as a child. It felt like forever. After a fresh change of clothes Eli slept the entire train ride home. He stayed asleep as we transferred from train to car only to wake up as soon as we got home... like he had never been sick at all!

Painting
I came home to some very messy children today! Aunty Sniv and cousin Keily have been staying with us this week while I have been doing my internship. It seems that a spot of painting was done!

Kindy Ekka
What an exciting day today was for Freya - the Kindy Expedition (as Freya calls the Exhibition). The wonderful thing is that the Kindy Ekka all came about at Freya's suggestion. Freya's teachers embraced the suggestion and the children set about planning a huge Ekka complete with showbags, facepainting, rides, games, food and signage! Lot's of parents were involved to make the day possible. Sadly, I wasn't able to go on the day because I was doing my final internship to become a primary school teacher but Daddy went along and took lots of photos for us.

My little boy turns 2
My beautiful boy turned two today and we had a sausage sizzle and cake with family and friends to celebrate. Eli LOVES cars. He likes to talk about them 'car, car keys!' He likes to play with them and he loves to be in them. So it was only natural that his cake should of course be a car. His party favours were a small collection of his favourite things... a matchbox car, a freddo frog and a lollypop. He also loves popcorn and often drags the popcorn maker out himself and pushes it at whomever he thinks might make it for him so his party favour bags were little paper popcorn bags.
At the end of the day Freya remembered that she had wanted to give Eli a special gift. When she turned two her Nana had given her a number 2 fridge magnet. Freya doesn't often part with items easily but she resolutely informed me that since she was no longer two and Eli was that she should give it to him. So she wrapped it up and made my heart swell as she tried to hand it over to her little brother... her little brother who was by that stage very overtired and didn't want a bar of it! But with a little time he opened it. I felt so relieved that he eventually provided Freya with with a happy smile for her little gift before he promptly popped it in his new toy pot and cooked it!
